Eric van Straaten presents largest full color 3D printed sculpture in the world
The art fair REALISME is organized for the eleventh time in the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam. It is the only art fair in the Netherlands exclusively devoted to contemporary figurative art. Around 30 national and international galleries exhibit and sell works of art by Dutch and foreign artist. During the fair there will be a very special exhibition about 3D printed art, curated by Majke Hüsstege. Artists such as Ilse Vermeulen and Eric van Straaten (who also provided the campaign image for the fair) will be exhibited on the Panorama deck.
Eric van Straaten presents his largest 3D printed sculpture up till now: a full color sculpture of about 1.20 meter high. This is a big challenge, because the material Eric van Straaten uses, only allows 3D prints in one go of 38 cm high. Therefore larger sculptures in full color must be 3D printed in several parts. This is propably the largest sculpture in the world in this technique (3D printed full color sandstone). The piece, which is called ‘Priezah’ (a pieta-figure of which the girl is a so called ‘Breezah’ – a young girl that is said in the Netherlands to provide sexual acts for a Bacardi Breezer), consists of ten individual parts.
